First CEC Express Entry Draw of July 2025: Canada Opens Its Doors Wider with 3,000 ITAs

Canada just dropped its first Canadian Experience Class (CEC) Express Entry draw for July—and it’s a big one! On July 8, 2025, 3,000 skilled workers received Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for Permanent Residency, thanks to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

But here’s what makes this draw extra exciting—the CRS cut-off dropped to 518, three points lower than the last CEC round in June. Could this be a sign that the floodgates are opening wider? Let’s break it down.

What Happened in the July 8 CEC Draw?

This draw prioritizes candidates already contributing to Canada’s economy—those with valuable Canadian work experience in sectors like healthcare, trades, and tech.

“This draw is more than a number. It’s Canada saying, ‘We value those who are already part of our community.”

What Does This Mean for You?

Are you sitting on a CRS score of 515–520 and wondering if you’ve got a shot? Short answer: Absolutely. This draw confirms that CRS scores just above 515 are now in the competitive zone, especially for CEC candidates.

IRCC’s 2025–2027 Immigration Levels Plan aims to welcome 124,680 PRs through Express Entry in 2025 alone. And with 3,000–4,000 ITAs being handed out in each draw, future cut-offs may dip closer to 500.

Current CRS Pool Breakdown (as of July 6, 2025)

Out of 256,224 candidates in the Express Entry pool:

  •  22,591 have CRS scores between 501–600

  • 77,550 are between 451–500

  • Only 358 scored above 600

This means the sweet spot is narrowing. If you’re in the 515–520 zone, you’re standing at the front of the queue.

Did You Know? Small Moves = Big Impact

Canada removed points for job offers this spring. So now, language proficiency and Canadian work experience matter more than ever. Here’s how you can up your game:

  • Take that IELTS/CELPIP again – A CLB 9 or higher can push your score into the spotlight.

  • Get another year of skilled work experience, especially in high-demand sectors.

  • Explore PNP or French-language draws – Some category-based draws had cut-offs as low as 410.

Are You Eligible for the Canadian Experience Class?

Here’s a quick checklist:

  • At least 1 year of full-time skilled work (NOC TEER 0–3) in Canada
  • Work done in the last 3 years
  • CLB 7+ for TEER 0 or 1 jobs, CLB 5+ for TEER 2 or 3
  • Valid language test (IELTS, CELPIP, TEF)
  • Admissible to Canada
  • Express Entry profile submitted

Bonus Tip: Internships and co-op terms don’t count unless they were paid, full-time, and done outside of your study program.

What To Do If You Got an ITA?

Congrats! But don’t celebrate too long—you have 60 days to submit your PR application. Here’s your game plan:

  1. Accept the ITA in your IRCC account

  2. Gather docs like your passport, proof of work (T4s, pay stubs), ECA, language test, police certificate & medical

  3. Apply via IRCC portal – Fee is approx. CAD 1,365 per adult

  4. Track your status – Most CEC applications are processed within 6 months

  5. Plan your landing – Virtual process in Canada, or land at a Canadian port of entry if abroad
